This autumn cocktail was made for moody evenings. The Twilight Blackberry Spritz blends sweet blackberry liqueur with earthy sage simple syrup, a squeeze of fresh lemon juice, and a bubbly pour of prosecco. The result is a drink that looks dark and mysterious but tastes perfectly balanced. Sweet, herbal, and bright all at once.

This spritz feels right at home in the fall, when the nights get cooler and you’re ready for something a little richer in flavor. And if you’re looking for a Halloween sip, the dark blackberry color makes it look just the part.

I haven’t poured this one for the whole cabin crew just yet, but I did test it with Justin, Jeff, and Nana, and let’s just say, the verdict was unanimous. This spritz is officially cabin-approved, and I can’t wait for you to try it too.

Blackberry Spritz Ingredients

  • Prosecco – Go with your favorite bottle. I love La Marca for its crisp flavor and great price point.
  • Blackberry liqueur – Sweet, deep, and moody. This is what gives the spritz its rich color and berry kick.
  • Freshly squeezed lemon juice – A splash of brightness. Let’s skip the bottled stuff.
  • Sage simple syrup – Earthy, herby, and the perfect fall twist. It’s so easy to make at home. Check out my hibiscus simple syrup post to see how simple syrups come together.

How To Make A Twilight Blackberry Spritz

No fancy bar tools needed for this one.

Start by filling your glass with ice. I usually grab a stemless wine glass for this spritz. Add the blackberry liqueur, sage simple syrup, and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.

Top it all off with prosecco, and if you like it a little lighter, splash in some soda water.

For garnish, I love tucking a fresh sage leaf into the glass for that cozy, herbal fall smell, and dropping in a few blackberries for a moody finish.

Sip Tips: FAQ’s

Can I make this Blackberry Spritz ahead of time?

Yes, at least part of it. You can mix the blackberry liqueur, fresh lemon juice, and sage simple syrup together ahead of time and keep it chilled. When you’re ready to serve, just pour the mixture over ice and top with prosecco so it stays nice and bubbly.

Can I make a Blackberry Spritz without alcohol?

Yes! Swap the blackberry liqueur for blackberry syrup (or muddled blackberries with sugar) and use sparkling water or sparkling grape juice in place of prosecco. You’ll still get that moody fall look.

What prosecco works best?

Any prosecco you enjoy will work, but I usually grab La Marca. Crisp, easy to find, and a good price point.

Can I use a different herb instead of sage?

Absolutely. Rosemary is a great swap and gives a more pine-like, wintery flavor. Mint will make it taste fresher and lighter.

How do I garnish a Blackberry Spritz?

I love adding a fresh sage leaf for that fall aroma and a few blackberries for a moody finish. If you want to dress it up for Halloween, try a black sugar rim.
