Oh, and let’s not forget the garlic aioli, that saucy kick—it’s the flavor-packed addition that takes these sliders to the next level.

As I’m sitting here dreaming about these salmon sliders, it’s hitting me—they aren’t just for spring or summer—they’re a year-round win. They bring the perfect balance of freshness and indulgence any time of year. So when you’re ready to wow your seafood-loving peeps, whether for a cozy game day get-together, a cocktail party, or a backyard soiree, these sliders will deliver layers of flavor that never go out of season.

I love that they can be passed around or just plated up for your friends to grab. Keeping the night light and informal but so fancy because they are, well, salmon sliders. Enough of me yapping; let’s dive into making these fin-tastic salmon sliders! (I always have to add some cheese.)

Ingredients for Salmon Sliders

Shot all all the ingredients on a cutting board with white text near each ingredient.
  • Salmon filets – Fresh, frozen, wild-caught, or farm-raised. Any type will do with this recipe. I will get into all the differences in a bit.
  • Panko breadcrumbs – For that perfect crispy texture. Using plain breadcrumbs doesn’t give the burger the same texture, so try and stick to using panko.
  • Dijon & mayo – The flavor and moisture duo.
  • Lemon juice – Brightens everything up. Always freshly squeezed, PLEASE!
  • Scallions – A mild oniony bite complements the salmon and adds more texture to the slider.
  • Dill – Bright, fresh, and slightly citrusy, this herb brings out the best in salmon.
  • Worcestershire sauce – The secret umami boost. And what’s a burger without a splash of wuh-stuh-shur or is it wuss-ter-sheer???
  • Olive oil – For pan-frying to golden perfection.

How to Make Salmon Sliders

Prepare Aioli

Make the sauce first! This allows the flavors to meld and improve. For detailed instructions, refer to my Garlic Aioli post or follow the quick version in the recipe card below.

Slice & Dice

Cut half of the salmon into small 1/4″ cubes and add them to a mixing bowl. Cut the other half into large chunks and place them in a food processor. This combination will create different textures in the patties, giving them the perfect balance of tenderness and bite.

Mix It Up

Add two tablespoons of the panko breadcrumbs, the dijon, mayo, lemon juice, dill and Worcestershire sauce to the food processor with the salmon chunks. Pulse 2-3 times until a pasty texture forms—reserve remaining panko breadcrumbs and set aside.

Next, mix the pasty mixture into the bowl with the diced salmon, add chopped scallions, and gently fold until all is mixed.

Shaping Salmon Sliders

Place the remaining breadcrumbs in a shallow dish. Form small patties about the size of your palm, and gently coat each side with the panko crumbs.

Transfer them to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Place the patties in the fridge for at least 20-30 minutes—this helps them firm up, making them easier to handle and ensuring they hold their shape when cooking.

Time to Fry

Heat olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Place the patties in the pan and let them sizzle until crisped on one side, about 4 minutes. Now, here’s the tricky part—flipping. Grab a fish spatula (trust me, it’s a game-changer), and carefully turn them over. Fry for another 4 minutes until golden and cooked through. Transfer the sliders to a plate lined with paper towels and hit them with a pinch of salt while they’re hot.

Cabin Tip

Don’t overcrowd the pan—giving the patties space ensures even frying and maximum crispiness. If needed, add more olive oil between batches to keep things golden and delicious.

Now Time to Assemble and Devour

Toast or don’t toast the bun—your call! Top with your crispy mini salmon slider. Add your saucy kick with a generous spread of garlicky aioli. Layer up with fresh greens—microgreens are a personal favorite for a delicate, peppery bite. If tomatoes are in season, slice one up and top it all off. Then, get ready to take the most satisfying bite ever.

Make-Ahead, Storage & Reheating Tips for Salmon Sliders

Make Ahead: You can totally prep these ahead of time. Form the patties, stash them in the fridge, and fry them up when you’re ready.

So, my thing—and I’m sure it’s your thang, too—is actually hanging out with my people, not sweating over a skillet while everyone else is sipping crafted cocktails and chit-chatting. I hate to miss a thing. That’s why I love frying these ahead of time.

Just cook them for about 2 minutes per side, slightly undercooking them, then let them cool and store them in the fridge. When you’re ready to serve, pop them in a 350°F oven for about 15 minutes, and boom—crispy perfection without missing a single thing.

Storing & Reheating: Leftover salmon sliders? The probability is slim, but if so, here’s your game plan!

Store cooked patties in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. To reheat, warm them in a skillet over medium heat with a touch of olive oil for a few minutes per side until heated through—this keeps them crispy. You can also use an oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes. Or you can stick them in the air fryer for about 3 minutes.

Freezing? Here’s the deal: Freezing isn’t recommended unless you know your salmon is fresh. If you’re confident about that, flash freeze uncooked patties on a baking sheet for 20 minutes before transferring them to an airtight container. When ready to cook, thaw in the fridge overnight and proceed as usual.

Cooking & Serving Your Way

Want to switch it up? These salmon sliders don’t have to hit the skillet—grill, bake, or air fry them!

  • Grill: Fire up the grill and cook over medium heat for about 3-4 minutes per side. Just be sure to oil the grates so they don’t stick!
  • Bake: Pop them in a 400°F oven on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, brushed with olive oil, for about 15 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Air Fry: Craving that crispy bite? Air fry at 375°F for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through.

Turn them into a full meal! Bring on the big burger energy, make it a full-size burger, and pair it with my crispy potato wedges. Top them on your favorite salad, crumble them over a grain bowl, or serve them alongside roasted veggies. I have no doubt you’ll make these salmon sliders your own.

FAQ: Salmon 101

What’s the Difference Between Wild-Caught Salmon vs. Farm-raised

Wild-caught salmon tends to have a firmer texture, deeper color, and a richer, more complex flavor thanks to its natural diet. It’s also leaner and packs in more omega-3s. On the other hand, farm-raised salmon is generally more affordable, has a milder taste, and has a higher fat content, making it a bit more forgiving when cooking. Either works for these sliders—go with what fits your budget and taste! I always use frozen farm-raised salmon because it is readily available at my local Whole Foods, and my family likes a milder salmon taste.

Fresh vs. Frozen?

Don’t sleep on frozen salmon! Unless you’re buying straight off the boat, most “fresh” salmon at the store was previously frozen anyway. Frozen salmon can be just as good (sometimes better) if properly thawed. Just make sure to defrost it slowly in the fridge overnight for the best texture.

I can’t wait for you to try them out. Whip up a batch of your favorite cocktail, and let’s keep the party rolling! And hey, if you need more seafood crowd-pleasing bites, check out some of my other go-to entertaining favorites…
