What is it about gingerbread during the holidays that transports us back to childhood? Is it memories of the chaos of decorating a gingerbread house, cutting out that classic cookie shape, or the scent that signals the beginning of the season? Whatever the reason, let’s go on and capture the essence of those beloved childhood treats and give your spirits a grown-up twist.

It begins with a must-have staple in your fridge throughout the season: gingerbread simple syrup. Trust me, once you try this syrup, you’ll want to drizzle it on everything! This syrup is a game-changer. You’ll want to pour it into your morning coffee, a cozy latte, delectable desserts, or festive cocktails!

The gingerbread vodka cocktail perfectly marries the spice from the syrup with the smoothness of vanilla vodka, the creaminess of Irish cream liqueur, and the richness of coffee liqueur. Each sip of this delightful cocktail takes you back to the nostalgic cravings of childhood while giving you a nice little buzz.

So let’s get a little tipsy together and craft this sip of joy…

Gingerbread Vodka Cocktail Ingredients

Picture of gingerbread vodka cocktail ingredients with text.
  • Vanilla Vodka – Adds smooth, subtle sweetness that pairs perfectly with the spices of gingerbread syrup.
  • Gingerbread Simple Syrup – The star ingredient! It brings that warm, comforting flavor of ginger, molasses, and spices—everything you love about gingerbread in syrup. I promise you, it isn’t tricky to make your own syrup, and it costs you SO MUCH LESS. Make it ahead of time; follow my easy recipe on my Gingerbread Simple Syrup post, and there you have it, a cocktail game changer in your fridge. I’m not sure what the store-bought syrup tastes like, but if you’re not up for making it, you can buy it on Amazon. (whaaa whaaa whaaa!)
  • Irish Cream Liqueur -The creamy texture and slightly chocolatey flavor add a dessert-like quality to the cocktail. I prefer the consistent quality of Baileys Irish Cream.
  • Coffee Liqueur – The richness compliments the sweetness of the syrup. My go-to is Kahlua.
  • Ice—Fill the tippy top of your shaker with ice to give the cocktail just the right amount of chill.

Festive Garnishes

Show the love and finish your crafted cocktail with a festive finish. Here are some garnishes that will take your cocktail to the next level…

  • Gingerbread Cookies: You can have the cute little fella floating in the cocktail or crush the cookies and rim the glass.
  • Cinnamon Stick: A classic! It adds a festive aroma and infusion of more cinnamon. As a bonus, it acts as a swirling stick.
  • Whipped Cream: Forget the cheesecake for dessert! Add whipped cream to the drink and make it ta boozy finish to your dinner party.
  • Ginger Slice: The ginger slice’s aroma is so inviting. It’s clean and crisp, yet earthy, woody, and root-like. It’s everything! Your peeps will go wild for this garnish!

Batch It Up

Want to keep the festive cheer flowing without spending so much time behind the bar measuring out each cocktail? I hear ya!

First, multiply the ingredients by the number of cocktails you want and pour them into a large pitcher. Be sure not to add any ice to the pitcher. We want to keep it boozy, and ice will dilute your magically crafted beauty.

Next, prepare a shaker filled with ice and pour the pitcher into it (you might need to do this in batches, depending on the size of your shaker). Give it a good shake and pour it into your martini glass.

It makes it the perfect make-ahead cocktail for those holiday gatherings.

Rimming A Glass

Pour your rimming ingredient:
(e.g., crushed cookies or cinnamon sugar) onto a small plate. Spread it evenly.
Moisten the Glass:
Rub a wedge of lemon, lime, or syrup around the outer edge of your glass. The goal is to make the rim sticky so the rimming ingredient will adhere.
Dip and Twist:
Gently dip the moistened rim of your glass into the plate of rimming ingredients. Twist the glass slightly as you dip to ensure an even coating around the entire rim.
Let It Set:
If you’re using a crumbly ingredient like crushed cookies, give it a light tap to settle the coating so it doesn’t fall off as easily.
